Teen Healthy Living Project

The Teen Healthy Living Project was launched in 2013 with a grant from the LA County Library Foundation. It was piloted in five LA County Library locations and then, with generous support from County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, expanded to two more library locations.

Teen and young adult Library patrons formed teen advisory boards to create local healthy living workshops, nutritional projects and physical fitness clubs.

Over half of LA County Library's more than 80 library locations have teen programs that include:

• Teen advisory boards

• Writing and book clubs

• Anime clubs

• Scrabble and chess clubs

• Author forums

• Computer lab support

• SAT practice

• Poetry writing and reading

• Knitting and crocheting

• Cooking

• Gardening

• Movie screenings

• Art activities
