LA County Library Foundation, founded in 1982, raises funds and creates partnerships to support LA County Library and the millions of children, teens, and adults whose lives it enriches with free programs, services, and resources. The Library is a dynamic and unifying force for Los Angeles County, with the Library Foundation a vital partner.
Public dollars don’t cover all the Library’s costs for the free services it provides with 86 libraries and a mobile fleet of 18 vehicles serving 3.4 million people across more than 3,000 square miles.
The Library Foundation works to bridge that funding gap - with gifts from private sources, including foundations, corporations, and individuals - and builds deep-rooted support for the Library and its role as a cornerstone of the community.

Library programs and services meet community needs made stark by the pandemic, with: laptop and hotspots that can be checked out like a book; printing; internet access on site, as well as parking lot Wi-Fi; Work Ready job assistance; in-person STEAM and arts programming; online one-on-one job coaching and tutoring; and virtual programming tailored to a range of audiences and needs - designed to educate, engage, connect, and delight, from toddlers to older adults.
The Library's four Resource Centers continue to curate collections, develop programming, and provide information and resources about race and ethnicity, culture, and social justice - greatly needed in a time of political and social upheaval.
LA County Library Foundation is working to make real its vision: to create widespread understanding that LA County library is a transformational force – socially and economically – in our communities.
And to translate that understanding into financial support that fills the gap between public funding and what Library services cost.
